· 1760 – The original name was Bintauan with the original inhabitants were Gaddang.
· 1767- The Municipality was founded by Father Alejandro Vidal.
· 1768- It was called “Lungabang” which means “cave” in Gaddang dialect.
o Later it was changed to “Lumabang” by the Spaniards for convenience.
· 1851-Gov.Gen.Antonio Urbiztondo declared Lumabang a barrio of Bayombong for having insufficient inhabitants and revenue to maintain itself.
o Gov.Gen Ramos Solano Y Llanderal authorized the separation of Lumabang as barrio from Bayombong.
· 1853- The former Gobernadorcillo Don Diego Lumicao brought the first Ilocanos in Lumabang.
· 1860- It was called Solano its current name.
The town was planned by Father Juan Villaverde. The Poblacion, as designed, consisted of 14 parallel wide streets, each having a width of 20 meters. The streets run from North to South and East to West forming 100 square blocks with an aggregate area one hectare per block.
